Obituary of Edwin Leidner
Edwin R. Leidner passed away peacefully in his home on March 12, 2018.
He was born on January 17, 1936 in Hamburg, Germany to Robert and Maria Leidner. He served for many years as a chef on the ships of the Merchant Marines before joining the Army. On November 11, over 50 years ago, he married the love of his life, Isabel. Together they raised three children, lived in New Jersey, Indiana, Pittsburgh and Iowa before finally returning to New York. They never lost their love of travel and spent their retirement in a Winnebago making it to all of the 50 States except for Alaska and Hawaii.
Edwin loved anything to do with the outdoors or the water, especially going camping, and hunting. Every trip was an opportunity to teach and to learn. He often mixed family trips with education, helping his children grow with books and experience. He was an avid Nascar, Football and Boxing fan and he enjoyed working with his hands. He used his skills to completely renovate the family home. He leaves us with many wonderful memories and that of his most used phrase, “This is bullshit.”
He will be deeply missed by his children: Debbie (Michael) O’Connell and Aldo (Peter Pacilio) Leidner; his Grandchildren: Russell, Chistopher, Isabella and Anthony, and Brothers: Jüergen and Ralf.
Edwin was preceded in death by his wife, Isabel, their daughter, Idally and granddaughter, Alexandria.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on FRIDAY, March 16 at The All Seasons Chapel at White Haven Memorial Park (210 Marsh RD) followed by a Graveside Service.
We know every family we serve is unique and deserves the ability to honor their loved one in their own personal and unique way.
It is our goal to meet this need with every family we serve; no matter how complex or simple the request.
