Thanksgiving morning, we had to say goodbye to the Patriarch of our family, Robert “Bob” Steidle. Why on Thanksgiving? Well, if you knew Bob, you would know that he always took care of everyone, especially his girls. We believe he wanted us to spend Thanksgiving as a family, not taking turns visiting him in the nursing home. We believe he wanted to be with us as we celebrated, watching us prepare a meal, eating and enjoying being together. Nothing gave him more pride than to watch his family be together. He was so proud of his wife, his 4 daughters, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and all their families. He loved the thought that he and his wife created this amazing group of people. He was a man of integrity and intelligence; he was kind hearted and would fight for what he felt was right. Bob loved being involved and volunteering. He started the parent group for the Sperry Singers, he was an Elk, a Town Board Member, Zoning Board Chairman, Volunteer Fireman, member of the Moose Lodge, Republican Party’s oldest member and volunteered at the VA. We cannot imagine life without him, but know that he is up in Heaven still watching over his girls, family, and friends. If you had the opportunity to know him you were blessed. If not, then know that he was a gentleman through the end with a sense of honor more people should have. He was with us in the best and worst of times, we laughed and cried together, he lifted us through it all and now it is our turn to let him fly. We love you and all that you have taught us. Rest easy and know we will continue to take care of each other. Play golf, go fishing, smoke that cigar, drink that highball and know how blessed we were that God gave you to us.

Survived by his loving wife Linda, their 4 daughters; Karen (John) Ward, Lisa Bolzner, Robbin (John) Ciavaglia & Jennifer (Clark) Mauchly, Grandchildren Kristen (Tom), Ashley (Andy), Jordan (Tamara), Erik (Laura), John, Julia, CJ & Graham, 7 great grandchildren, brother Gerald (Jean) Steidle, sisters Linda Anderson, Patricia Steidle, several nieces and nephews and dear friends.

Family and friends are invited to call on THURSDAY, December 8, from 4-7PM at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services (3325 Winton Rd S). Robert’s Memorial Service will be held FRIDAY, December 9, at 10AM at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church (601 Edgewood Ave). Interment Ascension Garden Cemetery.
