John W. Pimkowski
VICTOR, NY – John Pimkowski passed away on December 16, 2022 after a recently diagnosed cancer.
John was born in Palatine Bridge, NY on March 11, 1943. He graduated Canajoharie High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy (1961-1965) serving proudly on the USS Newport News (CA-148) heavy cruiser. John graduated from Alfred State College of Technology, and worked as a structural designer at Eastman Kodak in Rochester, NY from which he retired in 1992.
John enjoyed being outdoors. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed snow skiing and riding dirt bikes. He loved operating chainsaws and was a talented woodworker who especially enjoyed building bird houses. John was also a classic car enthusiast. John was a proud member of the National Rifle Association, and was a member of Huggers Ski Club and the South Bristol Fish and Game Club. His greatest love that offered John the most enjoyment was his wife of 27 years, Denett, who predeceased him in 2011. They enjoyed many different interests and hobbies, and especially simply being together.
John is survived by his sisters Norma Dague and Polly (Mike) Tefft, brothers Ronald (Penny) and Joseph Pimkowski, and nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends to celebrate John’s life will be held on Saturday, May 13th from 10 – 11:30 AM with a brief Memorial Service to follow at 11:30 AM at Miller Funeral Home, 301 West Main Street, Victor, NY 14564. Interment with Military Honors will follow at the Boughton Hill Cemetery in Victor. Memorial contributions may be made to the Golisano Children’s Hospital P.O. Box 278996 Rochester, NY 14627.
