Wilfredo M. Melendez, lovingly known as “Fred” and “Papa,” went home to be with Jesus on January 29, 2023, at the age of 60 after a rigorously long battle with cancer. Freddy was born in Guayama, Puerto Rico on February 26, 1962. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. 

Fred was adored by his family and friends. He had a passion for learning and was a born leader. He was an honorable man who loved so deeply and gave whole heartedly. Nothing brought him more joy than to extend a hand, lend an ear, or provide a shoulder to lean on. He was quick witted, brilliant, “Mr. Fix It,” and an incredible cook. He finished his career as a store Manager at City Mattress in Victor, NY. He truly loved his work, but even more so, he loved the relationships that he built there. His greatest love was his family. His happiest moments were spent with his adored wife, children, & granddaughters. 

While his promotion is such an immense loss, he is now in Heaven where this is no more suffering, no more sickness, and no more tears. 

Fred is survived by his beloved wife Eva; and their children Ariel, Yariel (Jeremiah) Garcia; three grandchildren, Camilla, Fiorella, and Mia; parents: Manuel and Maria Melendez; siblings: Manuel (Linda) Melendez, preceded in death by Felix Claudio, Aileen Claudio, Pedro Melendez, Gloria Melendez and Emanuel Melendez, as well as his beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. 

A celebration of life service for Fred will be held on February 4, 2023 at 10am at Calvary Chapel Center City (1274 Penfield Center Rd. Penfield, NY 14526)
