Donald W. Hess passed away on Saturday, March 18th, 2023.
Donald was born in Buffalo, NY on September 11, 1935. He was a graduate of Kenmore High School in Buffalo. After graduation he enlisted and served in the military from 1954 to 1962. He served in several branches of the military and was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. Don was self-educated in hydraulics and was a successful sales engineer working in both Buffalo and Rochester, NY.
He loved the time he could spend fishing with his wife Bev and his family on the Niagara River and Lake Erie over his lifetime. He was also a longtime member of the George Washington Club in the Riverside community of Buffalo as well. Both Don and Bev were passionate Buffalo Bills fans, never missing a game at the stadium or on TV.
Don was a guy who would often strike up a conversation with anyone anywhere about anything and if someone asked how he was doing, his response was always “better than a stick in the eye”.
In addition to his parents, James and Mary Hess, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Beverly A. (Lee) Hess, brothers James (Dorothy), Frederick (Blondie), Margaret Mis (Harry), Richard (Jeannie), Mary Ann Kozlowski (David), sister Dorothy (Daniel) Jimmy, and Joseph (Wanda).
He is survived by Michelle (Louis) Cammerano, Michael (Lucinda Steinhauser) Hess, Kulleen (Conrad) Hess-Harvey, Scott (Rebecca) Hess; grandchildren Marisa and Adam Cammerano, Jordan, Devon, and Cameron Hess, Ryan and Connor Hess; great-grandchild Paul Bonaccorso Jr. and by many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2pm-4pm on Friday March 24th at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services of Victor, 301 West Main Street. A service will be held directly after calling hours at 4pm at the funeral home. A celebration of Donald’s life will follow at the Cobblestone Creek Country Club, 100 Cobble Creek Road, Victor, NY 14564
