Patricia “Cookie” Raspaldo was well known for her comedic timing and willingness to help others smile and laugh. Although riddled with sarcasm, her heart remained open with pure intentions. Due to her service in the military, it placed a duty upon her to always protect and serve those around her. Whether it was providing a hot meal, a safe place to stay or even fresh clothing. Caregiver and nurturer were qualities she was very well known for. Neighborhood children referred to her as the “Kool-Aid-Lady” due to its sweet taste and her warm loving demeanor.
Although it is with heavy hearts, she has departed the earthly realm and is now dancing freely in the heavens above, embracing loved ones who have passed. She is survived by her mother and matriarch of the family, Purificacion Melendez Figueroa. Her daughter, Amaries Gonzalez, and her grandchildren, Yesley, Nayema, Ezperanza, Micah, Daymehon and MacKenna. Cookie is also survived by her siblings, Judith, Olga, Solelena, Nelson, Jeannette and Amanda. With sorrow in our eyes, she is also survived by many nieces, nephews whom she cared for, watched over, and loved with every fiber of her being.
In the end, she would not want us to mourn her passing, rather celebrate her life. Remembering that her pain and suffering is no more and placing our focus on the happy, silly and loving times. Reminding ourselves that pain, although unintentional it is temporary and that time can be on our side with setting a difference aside… And with her “Smile for the day” antics, she would remind us that “This is not goodbye, it is see you later”.
