Hugh Nolan Crowley, Victor NY, entered eternal rest on April 20, 2023 at the age of 87. He was a beloved father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend to all. He was a grateful friend of Bill W. and celebrated 43 years of sobriety on April 15th . He is predeceased in death by his devoted wife of 65 years, Joan Burke Crowley, his parents Harriet and Albert Crowley, sisters M. Monica Milliman and M. Eileen Cannan, brothers Edward, Guy, and Martin Crowley, daughter-in-law Mary Linn Crowley, and beloved nephew, Terry Milliman. Hugh is survived by his brother, Francis (Sally) Crowley; four loving children, Thomas Crowley of Salisbury, MD, Colleen (Dennis) Flye of Walworth, Kathleen (Lorenzy) Smith of East Rochester, and Anne Margaret McCombs of Victor, NY; Five grandchildren, Timothy (Shannon) Flye, Kelly Jo (Adam) Gursslin, Jennifer (Tom) York, Bradley Everdyke and Katherine McCombs; Six great-grandchildren, Brynn and Quinn Flye, Luke, Lilly and Hazel Gursslin, and Charlotte York; former son-in-law Sean McCombs, niece Myrna Meehan of Mooresville, NC, many nieces and nephews in the Crowley family, and many dear friends.
Hugh was a man of strong Catholic faith and fiercely proud of his Irish heritage. His sense of humor, quick wit, and understanding of the power of laughter will be remembered fondly. He was always ready with a kind word, a funny joke, a warm smile, and a soft shoulder to lean on. He was loved by all who knew him. He worked for many years in auto sales and management and retired from a successful career at Valley Cadillac. He loved his daughter Anne Margaret’s cooking, Steve Harvey, scratch-off lottery tickets, playing golf, riding around on his golf cart in Gypsum Mills, his two cats Sammie and Stewie, playing Bingo and Euchre, going to Fran’s cottage on Waneta Lake, the Buffalo Bills, Notre Dame football, Syracuse basketball, the NY Yankees, going to Mass, and above all else – his children. He served as the President of the Gypsum Mills Cooperative Board for many years and loved his neighbors in the Gypsum Mills community.
Friends and Family are invited to call at Miller Funeral Home, St. Rt. 96 in Victor, NY on Sunday, April 23, 2023 from 3:00-7:00pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, April 24, 2023 at 12:00 PM at St. Katherine Drexel Church, Rt. 31, Macedon, NY. Interment St. Patrick Cemetery.
