Robert Joseph Walsh
Robert “Bob” Joseph Walsh of Victor, NY passed away peacefully with his family at his side on April 25, 2023 at age 90.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Frances Walsh and brother, John Walsh. He is survived by his wife of 67 1/2 years, Muriel (Mitzi) Walsh and children, Catherine Walsh, Michael Walsh, Richard (Patti) Walsh, Robert Walsh, Timothy (Lisa) Walsh as well as grandchildren, Shane, Nicholas, Kyle, Shannon, John, Aaron, Joseph, Ava, Owen, many nieces, nephews and close friends.
Bob was born on August 16, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from John Adams High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Brockport State University.
In January of 1952 he joined the Platoon Leaders Class of the United States Marine Corps, later serving in Korea and Japan as a first lieutenant.
After leaving active military service, he began his career as a science teacher at Denonville Junior High School in Penfield, NY. Later, he transitioned to high school guidance counselor at Penfield High School. Bob obtained three Masters degrees in support of his work as an educator. In total, he served 37 years as a public school educator, retiring in 1993.
In retirement, Bob and Mitzi enjoyed splitting time between Victor and Florida, playing golf, staying active, and visiting their growing family who lived across the United States and abroad.
Bob was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by those family and friends who loved him most.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, May 11th from 5-7 PM at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services of Victor, 301 West Main Street, Victor. Bob’s Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 12th at 11AM at St. Mary’s Church, 95 Main Street, Canandaigua, NY. Interment will be held at White Haven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Donate Online
