David was born in Newburyport, MA, graduated from Amesbury High School, class of 1952; Harvard University, 1956 AB cum laude; Harvard Graduate School of Education, 1957 AMT.
He worked for the Rochester City School District for 35 years as a teacher at Madison High School; Department Head of Special Education at Benjamin Franklin High School; and ending his career in 1992 as Assistant Superintendent for Supporting Services. He was also a consultant to the U.S. Department of Education implementing new testing cycles. He spent 3 years with the Philadelphia School District reorganizing its testing and evaluation department.
In his retirement he was active as a volunteer for Geva, Friends of Mount Hope Cemetery, the Landmark Society and Christ Church, Rochester. Also, during his retirement he spent time traveling to over 40 countries including a visit to Shangri La (Bhutan).
He leaves his wife, Joan and three children Mark Hunt, Caroline Riby (Stuart), and Andrew Hunt (Suik Leong); two grandchildren, Alexander and Claire Riby (Daquan Johnson), two sisters Nancy Mauro and Beverly Pare (Normand).
His service will be at Christ Church Rochester, 141 East Ave, Saturday 7/15 starting at 11AM. A reception will follow.
