Thomas Nichols passed away July 6, 2023 at age 74.
Predeceased by his parents, Richard G. & Virginia Mae [Vickers] Nichols; brother, Robert E. Nichols; nephew, Michael T. Giunta.
Survived by his wife, Kathleen [Bracci] Nichols; daughters, Corey Ann (Peter) Nichols-Hadeed & Lindsey Marie (Curtis Biggs) Nichols; granddaughters, Samantha Grace Hadeed & Maeve Nichols Biggs; brother, Douglas R. (Jan) Nichols; sister, Kathryn N. (Tom) Giunta; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Tom graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education from SUNY Geneseo in 1971 followed by a masters degree in counseling from SUNY Brockport in 1973. He retired after 30 years of educating and guiding students in the West Irondequoit School District. During those years he was involved in many of the districts extracurricular activities as well as spending time as President of the Teachers Union and the Monroe County Counselor Association.
One of his greatest accomplishments was the 50 year marriage to his loving wife, Kathy. With his family Tom traveled the U.S., visiting family, friends, and historical sites during school breaks and summers. He was actively involved in his daughters school and community activities volunteering many hours. When asked what brought him the most joy in his life he always answered “my girls”.
Tom was a devoted educator, husband, loving and caring father who will be truly missed by many.
Thomas’ Memorial Service will be held FRIDAY, July 14, at 10AM at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services of Victor (301 W Main St). Inurnment at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or The Center for Youth.
