February 20, 1946 – July 7, 2023
Judy passed away unexpectedly at Strong Memorial Hospital on Friday, July 7, 2023 due to complications from heart surgery. She was born on February 20, 1946 in Rochester, the daughter of Marian E. and Donald A. Hoffend, Sr.
Judy graduated from Mercy High School, class of 1964, Nazareth College, class of 1968 with a degree in Mathematics and later a graduate degree also in Mathematics. She was a devout Catholic and a committed and involved parishioner at both St. William’s Church in Conesus, NY and San Pablo Church in Marathon, FL. She was very involved in the church ministry and functions, serving on the liturgy committee, distributing communion, and generously offering her Florida home to priests and nuns to vacation for many years free of charge. Judy was a lifelong Buffalo Bills fan, an avid reader of historical novels, an impassioned stamp collector (especially of Vietnamese stamps), and deeply cherished her annual winter trips to the Florida Keys with friends and family.
She is predeceased by her parents. Judy is survived by her siblings, Nancy Walther, Donald Hoffend, Jr., Deborah Jaques, Jack Hoffend and their families. She will be warmly missed by many lifelong friends and her adopted family, the Nguyens (Lanh, Vincent, Elizabeth, Anna Marie, Gabrielle, and Matthew).
Family and friends may call on Wednesday, July 12th from 4-6pm, at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, 3325 South Winton Rd, Rochester. Judy’s Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 13th at 10am at St. Anne’s Church, 1600 Mt. Hope Ave, Rochester. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 2461 Lake Ave, Rochester.
