On July 22nd, 2023, two incredible people left us to be amongst the stars: Edward and Barbara Egan (nee Dixon). Our family is incredibly saddened at the sudden loss of both Barb and Ed, but finds comfort knowing they are together in death as they were in life. If you knew Ed and Barb, you’d know they had been inseparable since they met.
Ed was born August 10th, 1964, to Marlene Egan (nee Bullock) and Edward Whelsky in Fulton, NY. Marlene later met and married David Egan who took in and raised Ed as his own son. Marlene eventually met and married Jeffrey Berger, who also took in Ed as his own kin never shying away from the responsibility of raising Ed, Barb, and their boys. Ed was extremely hardworking, starting his own business Edward Egan Painting in the 1990s, which he owned and operated until his passing. All who knew Ed knew of his precision, dedication, and tireless efforts to build his business and a beautiful life for his family. Ed is predeceased by his mother Marlene, fathers Edward, David, Jeffrey, and his sister Jayme. Surviving Ed is his stepmother Eileen Egan (nee Miller), brother Ed (Dorie) Whelsky Jr, sister Cheryl (Tim) Gregory (nee Whelsky), brother David (Heather) Egan Jr, sister Helen Katherine Egan, brother Max Berger, and brother Alex (Celletta) Berger.
Barb was born September 6th, 1967, to Helen Matula (nee Davey) and Robert Dixon in Sewickley, PA. Barb grew up in Rochester, NY later moving to Bristol NY in 1998 with Ed and their boys. Barb is survived by her parents Robert Dixon and Helen Elaine Matula (nee Davey); and brothers Ronald (Sayuri) Dixon and Robert Dixon. Barb began working at Elizabeth Wende Breast Care Clinic alongside her sister, Jayme, in 2002, where she worked until her passing. At work and at home, Barb continually put others above herself, always providing warmth, friendship, and tough love to anyone in need. Barb was a true matriarch, a guiding light for her boys and all those who knew her.
Ed and Barb are survived by their beloved children Edward Jr, Nicholas (Keara), and Andrew, as well as countless beloved friends and family members.
Ed and Barb were pillars of the Rochester, NY and Bristol, NY communities, never shying away from helping those in need, they became fast friends of everyone who met them. Ed and Barb enjoyed riding motorcycles with their friends, vacationing in Florida, spending time with their family, and building their beautiful home together.
Inseparable even in death, we will be holding calling hours for Ed and Barb at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. – 3325 S Winton Rd, Rochester, NY 14623 on THURSDAY August 3rd between 4-8pm. Ed and Barbara’s Memorial Service and celebration of life reception will be held at Bushnell’s Basin Firehouse – 661 Kreag Rd, Pittsford, NY 14534 on SATURDAY August 5th at 1pm.
