Alan L. Rowe, 62, of West Henrietta, passed peacefully on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, with his wife and children by his side after a long battle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Cheryl Rowe; his children, Gregory (Kristen) Rowe, of Pittsburgh, PA, and Kelly (Michael) Dietrich, of Henrietta; his mother, Helen Rowe, of West Henrietta; his siblings, Mark (Leslie) Rowe and Laurel (David) Popenhusen-Bruinix; his stepmother, Barbara Popenhusen; and his stepsiblings, Vicki (Miguel Llano) Ferris, Amy (Tim) Freitas, and Tim Ferris. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
He was predeceased by his father, Glenn Popenhusen, and stepfather, Donald Rowe.
Alan was born in Canandaigua on May 16, 1958. He graduated from Rush-Henrietta High School in 1976 and received his associate degree from Monroe Community College. He married his loving wife, Cheryl, on June 23, 1984, in West Henrietta. He was a member of Rochester Brooks Gun Club and an active member at Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church. He was an electrician for General Motors for 30 years. He enjoyed his years at his trade, but he took pleasure in many pastimes. Whether he was hunting with his buddies, cycling around Lake Champlain (among many other destinations), cheering at a Penn State football game, or simply having dinner with his family in his beautiful home…he did it all with a grateful heart. His generosity, faith and steadfastness throughout his life was palpable. He was an inspiration to his children and the perfect partner to his wife. The loss of Alan causes great sadness, but his family and friends hold unwavering faith that he is sitting at the Lord’s table, watching over them for all the days of their lives.
