His master said to him, “Well done, good and faithful servant…” (Matthew 25:21)
On October 20, 1930, in a farm house in Concord, Illinois, Delbert C. Tiemann was born to Marie Korsmeyer Tiemann and Carl G. Tiemann. Del was granted eternal life after 92 years of loving service to the Lord on August 16, 2023
Del pursued a life of Christian service via the ministry. He graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield, Illinois, completed his vicarage at St. Peters Lutheran on Long Island, New York and then answered the call to be a missionary at-large in the Eastern District of New York. The missionary call led to the founding of Pinnacle Lutheran Church in Henrietta, New York, where he served as a Founding Pastor, Pastor, and Pastor Emeritus for sixty-seven years. In retirement, he founded Safe Harbour Lutheran Church in Grand Cayman and served as Staff Chaplain at the Lutheran Camp in Arcadia, Michigan.
He was joined in selfless service by the love of his life, Brigitta Tiemann. Together they were blessed with their four boys, David (Kathy), James (Karen), Timothy (Brenda) and Daniel (Lisa). The greatest of blessings continued with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Matthew (Carly) Tiemann parents of Amelia and Brayden, Sarah (Chris) Larson parents of Lily, Benjamin Tiemann, Andrew (Clare) Tiemann, Jonathan (Marina) Tiemann, Rachael (Zachary) Jonik, Alexis Tiemann, Max Tiemann, and Lauren Tiemann. Their family was further blessed with Del’s sister Barbara Alexander, his sisters-in-law Barbara (Sam) Rutigliano and Patricia (Gus) Bruemmer; and many special nieces and nephews.
Del was preceded in eternal glory by his wife Brigitta, son James, parents Marie and Carl, brothers Byron and Dean, brother-in-law Bill Alexander, nieces, and nephews.
Del received his Bachelor of Divinity in 1956, Master of Divinity in 1973, and a Doctorate of Divinity in 1994. He served his community for over sixty years. In addition to his many roles of leadership within the Eastern District of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod, he also served as a member of the Lions and Rotary Clubs, worked with both school and town officials, and was chaplain to the Henrietta Fire Company #1.
Del Tiemann shepherded his flock as both the lion and the lamb. He rejoiced with us as he performed countless baptisms and marriages and he held us with love and prayer as we battled illnesses or loss. He lived his call to the mission field in hospital rooms, living rooms, board rooms, churches, funeral homes, and cemeteries all in service to the people he so dearly loved and was called to serve.
Delbert C. Tiemann fought the good fight, and finished the race, he kept the faith. He lived an extraordinary life of service, making every day a “great day.” Please help us thank the Lord for the service and life and Delbert Tiemann.
Family and friends are invited to call on SUNDAY, 4-7 pm at Pinnacle Lutheran Church (250 Pinnacle Road). Funeral services will be held, MONDAY, 11am at Pinnacle Lutheran Church (250 Pinnacle Road).
