Rev. E. Lu Johnson

Rev. E. Lu Johnson passed away peacefully on August 23, 2023 after a long illness. She was predeceased by her father, Dr. Jesse B. Johnson, Jr.; her mother, M. “Pete” Johnson; brothers, Gordon Johnson and Dr. Jesse B. Johnson, III. She is survived by her brothers, George (Linda) Johnson, Edward (Nancy) Johnson; sisters-in-law, Kathey Johnson and Marsha Johnson; dear friend, Sheila Cahill; 11 nieces and nephews, many grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins. Lu was a much loved teacher in the Albion School District.

Rev. Lu graduated from the Austin College in Sherman Texas and earned a MFA from the Texas Woman’s University and a Masters of Divinity from Colgate Rochester Divinity School. Rev. Lu served as Assistant Pastor of the Spiritualist Church of the Holy Spirit for several years.

She loved to travel, garden, open children’s minds and to Praise GOD!

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 27th from 2:00 – 2:30 with a service to follow at 2:30 PM a the Church of Divine Inspiration, 27 Appleton Street, Rochester, NY 14611.
