Harold “Junie” S. Mars III, 64, of Rochester, NY passed on to eternity on Monday, September 4 at Serenity House in Victor, NY after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Harold was born in Rochester, NY, the oldest of three children (Gregory T. and Lisa O. Beckford) and the son of Harold S. Mars Jr. and Olivia G. Mars. As a lifelong enthusiast of locomotives, basketball, golfing, bike riding and reading, Harold also enjoyed a successful and adventurous professional career that brought him and his family to Bridgeport, CT, Houston, TX, Portland, OR, and Rochester, NY. Harold most recently founded and operated his own financial consulting, book keeping and business productivity company – Graywolf Productivity Solutions LLC, where he helped clientele in various industries operate efficiently and effectively. Previous to his career in finance, Harold had a passion for learning and education, earning his Bachelor’s Degree at SUNY Geneseo, followed by earning his MBA at Washington University in St. Louis. Additionally, his love for academia, and his passionate faith in Jesus Christ led him to Western Seminary in Portland, OR to pursue the completion of his Masters Degree in Divinity. Above all, Harold was a believer and follower of Jesus Christ, his adored Lord and Savior.
Harold is preceded in death by his father Harold S. Mars Jr., mother Olivia G. Mars, and sister Lisa Beckford. He is survived by his wife Mary Beth, his daughter Lauren Hanley (John) and sons Tyler (Katherine), Alan (Emily), and Kyle (Kerrie) Mars. He is also survived by his brother Gregory Mars and grandchildren Jacob (11), Nathan (9), and Crosby (4) Hanley, and Landon Mars (8), in addition to many cousins and beloved relatives. As a member of the Narragansett Native American Tribe central to Rhode Island, Harold lives on spiritually as ‘Gray Wolf’, and has passed down the Narragansett heritage to his survived family.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours, Sunday, September 10 from 2-5 PM at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services – 3325 Winton Rd S Rochester, NY 14623. Harold’s funeral service will be held in the chapel at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services on MONDAY, September 11th at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Oatka Cemetery in Scottsville, NY.
