Daniel T. Moran “Dan”

Rochester: Passed away unexpectedly on October 18, 2023 at age 79. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Carolyn Moran. He taught in the Greece Central School district for 30 years. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Jane; daughter Megan; siblings, Michael Moran and Nancy (John) Gilbride; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

Dan spent his life in Rochester. Upon completion of Suny Brockport he began his career as a teacher. He loved teaching and in his early days coaching. He took great pride in his students over the years and his lasting friendships with his fellow educators.

For a good portion of his life he would consider a weekend well spent by enjoying a day fishing or hunting. He also had a great affinity for his Labrador retrievers and spent many a Sunday loading them into the car to explore a new trail or simply enjoy a long ride.

Dan and food were synonymous. It was from that love of food and entertaining that his catering company, Tastings was born. He loved helping to cultivate and be part of peoples’ celebratory moments during its 10 year run.

The enduring memory of Dan and the thread that wove through his entire life were days spent in his kitchen with Rhythm & Blues music playing while preparing to host his family and friends.
