On November 3rd, 2023, Major Holmes Jr. transitioned from this life into the peaceful and loving embrace of the Lord after a sudden illness. He was 58 years old.

Major was predeceased by his parents, Major Sr. and Elinora Holmes. He is survived by his adoring sister, Tonya Holmes; nieces Jasmine and Arlene; nephews DeVante’ and Matthew, uncles, aunts, a Godsister, cousins, and his many friends at CDS.

Known as “a true Gentleman”, Major’s beautiful smile and loving demeanor came through in all of his interactions. He would hold the door for the ladies and was always willing to help.

A true music aficionado, Major would play his guitar and sing when the mood struck him. As a younger man, he could dance for hours.  He loved Micheal Jackson,  WWE wrestling, and the Buffalo Bills. Major was a kind, gentle soul who adored (and was adored by) his family. He loved a good meal, and Thanksgiving was a wonderful occasion for him, but Christmas was his favorite.

A pure and beautiful soul, Major enhanced the lives of everyone around him.  A very special thanks to all of the nurses at Highland in the ICU for the amazing care and support you gave to Major and Tonya during a difficult time. Thank you to the special people at CDS- Kris H, Megan, Liz R, Pat, Debbie, Liz W and Ashley at Primecare-the texts, your phone calls, your presence meant more than words can express.

Private memorial service and Interment at White Haven Memorial Park.
