David F. Gipner

David F. Gipner passed away peacefully just after his 82nd birthday.

He is predeceased by his parents, John and Marcella Gipner, and his brother, John (Gail) Gipner.

He is survived by his children, Kelly Oakley and David W. (Michelle) Gipner; his grandchildren, Kelvin (Andrea) Rolle, Karlton (Shana) Rolle, LaDonya (Ben) Wilburn, Gabrielle Oakley, Damon and Tessa Gipner; former spouse and friend Donna Gipner; and his great-grandchildren, Kiana and Talia Rolle, Isa Bella and Ezekiel Rolle, and Myla Wilburn.

David spent 3 years as a Captain in the US Army Medical Service Corps, serving in Korea, Maryland and Germany.
He earned a Bachelor’s degree at Hobart College and a Master’s in Business Administration at the University of Rochester’s Simon School.

His 30 year career began at Eastman Kodak Company where he worked in Market Research, Distribution and Customer Service for the Clinical Products Division, and finished at Johnson & Johnson.

During his retirement, he served as Chair and on the Board of Directors for local Charity Quad A for Kids, and was active with his alma mater Hobart’s Delta Chi Chapter.

“Poppy” loved his family and was always in the bleachers, on the sidelines or in the audience for his grandkids’ performances and games.

Calling hours are being held Monday November 20, 2023 from 4:00-7:00pm at Miller Funeral Homes on 3325 S Winton Rd. The family is having a private interment.
