Michael Fedoryshyn passed away on December 30, 2023 at age 97. He was predeceased by his wife Beverley and brothers Peter and William Kuchmy.
Mike was a beloved father and grandfather. He is survived by his 4 children and their spouses, Mike and Sue Fedoryshyn, Bill and Kathy Fedoryshyn, Nancy Cline, and Doug and Diana Fedoryshyn, 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Mike was a distinguished basketball player at East High School where he was named to the All-City team. After 2 years in the Army, he continued his playing career at the U of R where he was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame.
Mike was a WWII veteran having been drafted shortly after he graduated from East High School. In May 1945 he left San Francisco on a troop transport ship heading to the Philippines to prepare for the invasion of Japan. The war ended shortly after and he spent the rest of his time in the Army serving in various roles on Leyte, Guam and Saipan and was discharged as a sergeant
Mike was a respected educator in the Spencerport School District for 32 years, first as a teacher and coach and later as an Assistant Principal. He was always proud of his students and the associations he formed while at Spencerport and very much appreciated their support in future years.
Mike enjoyed traveling and in later life he enjoyed visiting family and playing golf and cards.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Jewish Home and Laurelwood Senior Living for the excellent care he received at these facilities.
Friends are invited to calling hours on Friday, January 12, 2024 from 2:00-4:00 at the Miller Funeral Home, 3325 Winton Road South. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution can be made to the charity of your choice.
