Dawn Revette passed away on January 10th, having succumbed to her extensive injuries from the tragic attack on New Year’s Eve at Kodak Center. Dawn was a spark of life that brought joy to the people around her, and that was cut short at the age of 54.

Dawn was born and raised in Syracuse, NY, and obtained a degree in Psychology from Clarkson University. After working as a Montessori teacher for a short time, she started at the Mount Hope Family Center as a research support staff. During that time, she earned her Master’s in Human Development at the University of Rochester. Dawn was also an activist who worked with such groups as Metro Justice as a Board Member, Poor People United, Rochester Against War, Occupy Rochester, and the Peace and Social Action Committee of the Rochester Friends Meeting.

In recent years, she became less involved with activism, retired, and became a full-time artist. Along with painting in oils and acrylics, she was an avid drawer. She has studied under Kurt Moyer, Lanna Pejovic, Steve Carpenter, Bill White, and others. She was fortunate enough to sell 7 paintings in the last year of her life. Along with her passion for art, she loved live music, canoeing, camping, hiking, birding, and exploring the world. Many of these activities she enjoyed with her husband, Paul Michaloski, who was also injured in the same attack on New Year’s Eve.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Michaloski, her father, Ron Revette (Jackie Schneider-Revette), and their son Peter Schneider. Her brother, Jeff Revette, and his children Jeffery, Emily, and Megan (Dan Depaul and their children Weston and Sadie). Also survived by aunts and uncles, Pam (Tom) Corbett, John (Lisa) Andrews, Carl (Heidi) Revette, her brother-in-law, Eric (Annlyn) Michaloski, and their children Michelle, Caleb, Elizabeth, Zachery, and Jessica (Gavin) Jameson, along with many cousins and dear friends. She is predeceased by her mother, Deborah Casolare, and her aunts, Cindy (Ted) Antonacci and Denise Lefler.

Efforts are being made to put together a future art exhibit showcasing Dawn’s work.
