Lois M. Scorsone, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, niece, cousin and friend, lost her long and hard-fought battle with cancer on January 20 at age 85, surrounded by love. She was born to Philip and Mary Cappadonia, the oldest of three siblings, Philip (Regina), Maryann and Diane (Larry). After high school she attended Rochester Business School and held numerous jobs throughout her life, most notably was a Financial Secretary at Elim Gospel Church before retiring. She married John Scorsone in 1960 and together they had four children, Renee (Chris Miller), John (Angela), Mark (Katie) and Chad (Sarah). She was widowed in 1992 but her strength and independence only flourished. She was fiercely competitive, played all sorts of sports and games – to win! – and later in life enjoyed puzzles of all kinds. In addition to her siblings and children, she is survived by nine grandchildren, Joshua (Georgina), Micah, Mikayla (Nick), Kyle, Josiah, Kase, Logan, Moriah, Carissa; two great-grandchildren, Adeline and Asher, all whom she adored; as well as many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention. No prior calling hours or memorial service. Graveside service for immediate family only. We will celebrate her life with a reception on Saturday, January 27 from 3-5 p.m. at Zion Fellowship Church, 5188 Bristol Road, Canandaigua. All are welcome. The family wishes to extend many thanks and gratitude to the many oncologists, doctors, nurses and staff at Strong Wilmot, Highland Hospice and Thompson who provided the utmost compassion and care during this most recent and extensive three-year battle. An extra special thank you to Drs. Adrienne Victor and Rachel Turner who were especially instrumental in her care.In lieu of flowers, donations to Wilmot Cancer Center or your favorite charity can be made in her memory.
