With heavy hearts, we’d like to announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Marilynn Jean Barney.
Grandma Jean passed away at the age of 77, after a short battle with cancer. At the time of passing, she was surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren singing songs, rubbing her back and holding her hands. We were blessed with a lifetime of love, warm hugs and tender care. She loved her babies. The warm memories that she left us tie us together and give us such a wonderful example of commitment to family and unconditional love.
During her lifetime Jean gave countless hours of service to her church and community. She spent a large part of her life in a myriad of positions performing services to others. She served as the president of the chamber of commerce in Quartzsite, Arizona, and was actively involved as an ambassador in the Friendship Force. Many of her positions involved caring for at-risk youth, comfort care, and support for the elderly. In her later years she loved traveling back and forth from New York to Arizona, enjoying the sun shine and collecting, polishing and making jewelry from gemstones. She loved being connected to friends and family through long phone calls, social media “current events” and she could share a Tik Tok trend as well as her grandkids!
Marilynn (Jean) is preceded in death by her late husband William R. Hendrix and her daughter in-law Meredith Hunt.
She is survived by her three children, Marilee Buffum (husband Damon), John Hunt and Trevor Hunt (wife Sunny). Grandma Jean has 11 grandchildren (Danielle, Nathan, Chloe, Colin, Darby, Stephanie, Ryan, Riley, Grace, Grant and Isabel and 11 great grandchildren).
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 27th from 2:00-4:00pm at the LDS church located at 460 Kreag Road, Pittsford, NY.
Funeral Services will take place in Elsinore, Utah on March 9th 2024, time to be determined.
