Edward J. Ackley

Pittsford – On January 26 at age 92. Edward was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Agnes Ackley (VanBranteghem); daughter, Janet Ackley; son, John Edward Ackley; son-in-law, Robert Gallinger & brother James Ackley. He is survived by his loving daughters, Patricia (John) Muir & Catherine Gallinger (Daniel O’Brien); grandchildren, James (Paula Miceli) & Nathan Muir, Jody & Brian Gallinger; 3 great-grandchildren; nieces & nephews.

Edward graduated from the University of Rochester with a degree in chemical engineering.  After serving in the armed forces, he went to work for Pfaudler Inc, and earned his master’s degree in Business Administration from the Simon Business School.  He worked at Dollinger Corporation as chief engineer before joining Consler Corporation, a global leader in filtration technology, and serving as CEO. In 2009 he and his wife established the Edward J. and Agnes V. Ackley Executive Professorship in Entrepreneurship to support and bring attention to the important role of entrepreneurship within the Simon School of Business at the University of Rochester.

Ed was an avid golfer and longtime member of Monroe Golf Club.  He and Agnes enjoyed travelling, and spent many happy summers at their home in the Bristol Harbor community on Canandaigua Lake.

Family and friends are invited to call, Friday, Feb 2 from 10 AM to 12PM at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. (3325 Winton Rd S), where services will be held in the Interfaith Chapel of the funeral home immediately following  the calling on Feb 2 at noon.  Interment, White Haven Memorial Park.
