John Quatrano, of Victor, peacefully passed away on Monday February 5, 2024 at Light Hill hospice in Canandaigua at the age of 81 after a courageous battle with prostate cancer.

He is survived by his wife Ellen, son Philip (Vicki Barniak), daughter Anne Rine, son-in-law Jamie Rine, grandsons Nicholas, Andrew and Jason Rine.  He is also survived by his brothers Louis Quatrano, Anton Bahns, sisters, Phyllis Mathews, Christine Bonsignore, sister-in-law Dorothy Chatt and many nieces and nephews.  John was predeceased by his father, Angelo and his mother Vera.

He loved growing up in Watkins Glen, Class of 1961.  After graduating from Alfred State College, John proudly volunteered to serve his country in the Army as a nuclear weapons specialist in the British occupied section of Germany. When he returned from service, he spent time working on his car before deciding to continue his schooling in Buffalo where he met his wife to be, Ellen.  They married on July 25, 1970.  The next chapter of their story took them to Canandaigua and eventually to Victor where they raised their children.  John enjoyed his career as a machinist and the associated challenges in research and development of new products.  We all benefited from his ability to repair anything using his technical skills, creativity and extensive collection of tools.   He also enjoyed spending time with his  grandsons at their sporting events and special trips they would take.

Please join us for a celebration of his life to be held on Saturday, April 13th at the Presbyterian Church of Victor, 70 East Main Street, Victor, NY.  The service begins at 11 a.m. followed by a reception and luncheon in Corey Hall.

John will be laid to rest at the New York State Veteran’s Cemetery in Romulus at the convenience of the immediate family.

Our family would like to thank all the wonderful staff and volunteers at Light Hill who cared for John as he completed his journey.  We respectfully ask that you consider sending a check to Light Hill, 5160 Parrish Street Extension, Canandaigua, NY 14424 in John’s memory. (WEBSITE)
