Waldo H. Comfort

Waldo H. Comfort “Wally”, passed away on November 6, 2020 at age 90. He was born in Elmira, NY, and was the oldest of 6 brothers and sisters.

He was predeceased by his parents, Floyd and Lucy Comfort; brother Earle Comfort and sister Lucy Ann Comfort Killeen, and by his very dear friend Hilda Frediani. He is survived by his sister, Kathleen Shawl; brothers Webb Comfort and Lynn Comfort; several cousins, nieces, nephews and many dear friends, especially Tony Kemmer.

Wally was a proud US Army veteran. He was stationed at Fort Belvoir VA, and played in the Army Band. After his Army service he attended the Eastman School of Music in Rochester NY. He was a long-term employee of Stoney’s Parts Plus, but music was his passion.

He started a band while in High School and played at several dances. The Army also recognized his talent and he played in the Army Band for his entire service. He was especially talented on the French horn, which he played with the Perinton Concert Band, and the string bass which he played with the Roberts Wesleyan Community Orchestra. Wally also played with the Karl Dengler Orchestra.

Wally ate his bacon with a knife and fork and always brought the wine to holiday dinners.

Memorial Calling Hours will be held on Monday, May 24th from 3-5PM at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 3325 Winton Road South.  Please check back for the most current COVID-19 restrictions.  Contributions may be made in his memory to the Perinton Concert Band, P.O.
