With profound sadness the friends and family of Nanette Hoffer announce her passing on March 20, 2024.
Nanette’s calling was that of artist/teacher who enjoyed a distinguished career in the Pittsford schools igniting creative expression in generations of students. In her retirement, she served as president of the Pittsford District Retired Teachers Association where under her leadership the organization supported initiatives which enhanced the lives of students and teachers. She lived her passion as an avid reader, gardener, photographer, and lover of dogs. Nanette was indeed a woman of substance and a gentle spirit.

Nanette is survived by a collection of dear and special friends and family. Sincere gratitude to her amazing neighbors, the Masons, the Juliens, the Motyls, and the Leggs who rallied to support her over the past few months with overwhelming kindness and love; the Deisenroth/Rivera family who graciously welcomed her into their world as one of their own and steadfastly supported her throughout her recent illness; her former in-laws, Dr. Sandy Sorrentino and his wife Marie who provided medical advice and reassurance every step of the way; her brother Donald Hoffer and his wife Bonnie; nephew Scott Hoffer; her lifelong friends Bruce Elling and David Vitale as well as a multitude of loving friends from her days in the school district; and her beloved dog Wiley who brought joy to her world every day.

Special thanks to the 3rd floor rehabilitation medical and social work staff at the Jewish Home for their unwavering excellence and compassion.
At Nanette’s request, there will be no calling hours or services. Burial will be private in the Nature Trail at White Haven Memorial Park. Nanette leaves the world with a simple message – KINDNESS SPEAKS.

In her memory, please perform an act of kindness to someone you encounter in life.
