1971-2024 – Jeannie Hines Clinton of Rochester NY, beloved wife, mother, musician, educator, miner, artist, entrepreneur and community activist, passed away on April 19, 2024.

Born to Timmothy and Juanita Hines-McLeod in Meridian, Mississippi, and raised in Kent, Washington, Jeannie graduated from Kent-Meridian High School. She attended Western Washington University and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance in 1993 and a Master’s of Education from the University of Phoenix in 2006. In 1995 she relocated to Rochester, New York where she married Michael, her loving husband of 20 years in 2003.

Jeannie was most known for her musical abilities. She taught middle school music and directed the musicals and plays at Allendale Columbia School from 2002 until 2015. She was beloved by her students, who remember how she always saw the best in them and encouraged them to be creative performers. Jeannie performed consistently at The Rev (FKA Merry-Go-Round Theatre) in Auburn, New York, and was a tireless supporter of creativity and the performing arts.

She later started her own jewelry business, Jean’s Jewels, creating and marketing handcrafted pieces featuring Herkimer diamonds mined by herself and her family. Jeannie helped found Rochester LACE, a non-profit organization designed to empower new Americans with English language skills.

Jeannie will be remembered for her sunny smile, optimism, and deep love for her son Andy who was her pride and joy. She bravely fought cancer for more than two years and will be deeply missed by so many.
She is survived by her husband Michael; their son Andrew; her father and mother Timmothy and Juanita Hines-McLeod; brother and sister in-law Timmothy and Jennifer Hines; along with many other wonderful relatives and friends.

Family & friends are invited to Miller Funeral & Cremation Services (3325 Winton Rd S.), SATURDAY, MAY 4, 2024 from 2-5 PM.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Jeannie Clinton Dramatic Arts Award at Allendale Columbia School (Visit Allendale Columbia Website) or to Rochester LACE (Visit Rochester Lace Website).
