Joseph Arthur Foster Plate passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family and dear friends. He is predeceased by his father Joseph Albert Plate, his mother Ethel Anna Foster Plate, sister Carlotta Plate Campbell. Joseph is survived by his wife Carole A. Plate, daughters Jennifer Plate Johnson, Rebecca Plate Mack (Edward J. Mack); grandchildren Ethan E. Mack, Ian C. Johnson, and Tallulah B. Mack.

He was born in New York City, attended local schools and graduated from Amityville High School. After enlisting in the United States Army and serving from 1957 to 1961 as a microwave station operator in rural France, Joseph earned his degree as a Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1966. He opened his private dental practice in Pittsford, NY, and practiced for 33 years. Joe loved classical music, classic cars, and motorcycles, having traveled by motorcycle in Europe, across the United States and Canada and New Zealand. Joseph was a lifelong student.
