Martha Marie Kamisch (Riedel)

August 22, 1927 – May 20, 2024

Martha passed peacefully on May 20. Predeceased by the love of her life, John M. Kamisch, she has now joined him again to dance and socialize together.

Martha is survived by two daughters, Judy LeStrange (Edward), Joan Kamisch-Kibitlewski (Alicia), grandchildren Lillian and Brendan LeStrange, sister, Margaret (Peachy) Mitchell, a niece, nephews and several great nieces and nephews residing in Texas and Arizona.

Martha was born, raised, and resided in Rochester her entire life. She was a messenger for a local dental supply firm, until the birth of her first child. She and John bought a house on Long Acre Road, and Martha made it her priority to create a loving home for their family. They were members of the German-American club, the Schwaeben Verein, and socialized with the many cousins and friends they had in the region. Martha loved to be with people, a trait which supported her throughout her life. If she was not socializing, she could be found watching “The Golden Girls” as she was an ardent fan of the strong-willed women. She was a sweet person who rarely, if ever, had an unkind word to say, and easily made new friends well into her nineties. Perhaps that was the secret to her great memory, as she never forgot a face, name, birthday, or anniversary of those she interacted with daily.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful doctors, nurses, and staff at Hudson Housing, ElderOne, Lifespan, and Rochester General Hospital for their great care of Martha, both daily and when extended care was required.  She will be missed by her family and friends as she was always quick with a smile and a sincere thank you for any help provided to her.

A celebration of life will be announced later.
