Mary Ann Coley, born June 27, 1941, in New Iberia, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 21, 2024, surrounded by family. She was the beloved daughter of the late Victorian Doucette Sr. and the late Marion Ransom Doucette. Mary Ann graduated from Madison High School in 1959 and furthered her education at the Rochester Business Institute.

In December 1960, Mary Ann married James George, and together they were blessed with four children. Mary Ann, an accomplished seamstress and cosmetologist, was also known for her green thumb and love of beautiful flowers. However, her greatest pride and joy, her heart’s work, came from being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Mary Ann’s smile could light up a room, a reflection of her kind and generous spirit. She was a devoted member of In Christ New Hope Ministry, where she served cheerfully and faithfully on the Flag and Hospitality ministries, touching the lives of many with her warmth and dedication.

Mary Ann was predeceased by her late husband, Lavadus Coley, with whom she enjoyed eleven years of marriage until he died in 2013; eight brothers, Otto, Ned, Oswald, Clarence, Shelton, Lorris, Warren, and Thomas Doucette; and five sisters, Ida Mae, Annie Mae, Delores, Antoinette, and Mary Grace.

She leaves to celebrate her rich and meaningful life and legacy her four children, Maria C. Rogers (Gerald) of Jacksonville, FL, Mary E. Kerr (Renford Craig) of Rochester, NY, James S. George of Rochester, NY, and Teressa R. Watson (Ervin Jr.) of Marietta, GA; four grandchildren, Ronald Remell Washington, III (Kalinda) of Rochester, NY, Najia M. McGee, Ervin Watson, III, and Elijah T. Watson all of Marietta, GA; three great-grandchildren, Nalé L. Kennedy, Nyasia Washington, and Ronald Remell Washington, IV; three brothers, Victorian Jr., Dalton, and Morris Doucette all of Rochester, NY; two sisters, Clara Smith-Bray of Rochester, NY and; Emma Jane Bell of Tampa, FL; three sisters-in-law, Mary Alice and Sarah P. Doucette of Rochester, NY and Mary E. Doucette of Fort Worth, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Mary Ann Coley will be deeply missed, but her love and light will remain in the hearts of all who knew her, and her memory will be cherished forever.

Family and friends are invited to call on WEDNESDAY, June 26, from 4-7 PM at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services (3325 Winton Rd S). Her funeral service will be held THURSDAY, June 27, at 1PM at In Christ New Hope Ministry (155 Pinnacle Rd). Interment Riverside Cemetery.
