Mary H. Wilkinson passed away peacefully on September 26, 2024, at the age of 59 following a courageous battle with cancer. She is predeceased by her father Robert, mother Helen and brother Gene. Mary is survived by her husband Jim; son James, daughter in law India; grandchildren, Alijah and Alyssa; brother Thomas; sisters Roberta, Julie, many nieces and nephews.
Born December 6th, 1964, Mary was a dedicated daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a devoted wife to Jim. She cared deeply for her family and would speak for hours at a time with her sisters on the phone. In her early adult life, she could almost always be seen with her son, James, by her side. In 2010, ten years after moving to the Chicago area, she was overjoyed to become a grandmother to Alijah, and later, Alyssa. As her grandchildren grew, she and Jim built fond memories with them through annual visits to the pumpkin patch, making chili, and baking cookies, not to mention taking the kids on routine weekend visits to the grocery store and their favorite retail stores.
Mary was known to be a pet lover and she would always talk about Chelsea, Cocoa, Pikachu, etc. She just had a special and fond place in her heart for animals and she especially enjoyed visits to the zoo. She also loved to listen to her 70s and 80s rock music and was an avid fan of KISS. She attended a variety of rock concerts with her husband in the latter years of her life.
In 2008, Mary placed her faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized, having sealed her assurance of eternity in heaven with her Heavenly Father. While she will be dearly missed, her family and friends can have comfort knowing that she is no longer in pain or suffering, and is at peace where all things are being made new.
Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, October 7, from 4-6 PM followed by words of remembrance 6-7 PM at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services (3325 Winton Rd S). Mary’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, October 8, at 10AM at St. Marianne Cope Parish at Guardian Angel’s Church (2061 E Henrietta Rd). Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
