Peggy Lee Morrell, 86, of Victor, NY passed away peacefully on Friday, December 25, 2020 at home with her family by her side.

Born in Leominister, MA, on September 2, 1934, Peggy Lee was the only child of the late Theodore A. Marquis and Delores (Dumas) Marquis. She was raised in Troy, NY and she graduated from Lansingburgh HS in 1952 where she participated in a variety of activities: choir, student government, cheerleading, Mohawk (field hockey) All-Star Team, Leaders Club, and National Honors Society. She received her Business Associates Degree from NYS Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences at Utica (Utica Tech) now known as Mohawk Valley Community College, NY. While attending college, Peggy Lee met the love of her life and husband of 39 years, James Morrell. They wed on May 4, 1957 in Troy, NY and raised three beloved children in Binghamton, NY. They took pride in attending every ball game, band performance, dance recital and camped across the United States three times. In addition, Peggy Lee attained her goal of becoming a Mary Kay Cosmetics Director and was awarded a pink Cadillac for high sales.

They enjoyed their retirement for a few years in Beverly Hills, FL, and then moved to Farmington/Victor, NY to be closer to family. In true Peggy Lee style of “living life to the fullest”, she participated in numerous ventures: Kay Jewelers Sales, Hickory Farms Sales, Day Care Assistant, Poll Worker and Dog Walker. For recreation, she golfed and traveled to visit family and friends throughout the East Coast. Peggy Lee was a parishioner of Church of the Assumption in Fairport, NY, where she also served as Lector and sang in the choir beginning in 1986. Most importantly, she cherished time with her family and friends.

In her later years, Peggy Lee battled Pulmonary Fibrosis while maintaining her independence. She was predeceased by her loving husband, James Morrell, who passed away on November 9, 1996. She is survived by their children, Cynthia and (William) Fiore of Poughkeepsie, NY, Glenn and (Lisa) Morrell of Fairport, NY, James Morrell and (Keri Roche) of New Hartford, NY and her seven grandchildren, Hollis, Adam (Tara), Mark (Ashley), Payton, Paige, Lily, Alivia and three great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Alexander, and Geraldine. She also leaves nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Special mention to her cousin and close friend, Joyce (Turgeon) Raymond. Peggy Lee was included in many of the Raymond family’s special events including their trip to Africa.

“Peggy Lee”

We know a great grandmother her name is Meme,

she once told us a story of how she snagged Pepe.

Every Christmas, her pinwheels are sweet,

the stories of her friends are always a treat.

Photos are stored on her flip cell phone,

no matter the dog she will throw them a bone.

Kenzie calls her cheerful, Xander calls her caring,

her trip to Africa was definitely daring.

Whether reading a poem or singing a hymn,

she always loves to be around kin.

Don’t call her “Maggie”, she prefers “Peggy Lee.”

We love you Meme, thanks for creating this family!
