Cheryl Ann Eddy, 80, of Victor NY, and a former 50-year resident of Pulaski NY, left the realms of Earth peacefully with her husband and daughters by her side on January 27, 2025. Cheryl was born in Gloversville, NY to Charles Sandner and Katherine Frederick Sandner on November 11, 1944.

Cheryl’s roots began in Gloversville, NY, moving in 4th grade to Benson, NY….a tiny dot on the map in the southern Adirondack Mountains. Grade school through graduation Cheryl attended Northville Central Schools. This is when Cheryl caught Frank’s eye and it was love at first sight (not necessarily in her eyes). In 7th grade they would find themselves going to the prom together. Their 60-year story together began, July 24, 1965 when Cheryl and Frank married in the Northville Baptist Church.

In 1967 they moved to Pulaski. January of 1970 Box Street would become home where they raised their 2 daughters, they resided there for 48 yrs making many memories. “Oh, if the walls could talk!” In 2018 they would move to Victor, NY where Cheryl lived out her remaining years.

Cheryl enjoyed traveling and camping with her husband and girls. There were many vacations to Maine, Cape Cod, Southern states and various campgrounds around the northeast. Oceans, lighthouses, seashells, beaches, and sunshine were always important destinations when away from home. Cheryl was a conscientious homemaker. She kept a pristine home and you could always count on fresh baked treats; most famous for her frosted carrot cake bars and coffee cakes. A favorite at gatherings!

Cheryl was most often referred to as the “Queen of laundry”; clothes didn’t stay dirty for long! Ironing and stain removal were her talents! Her love of shopping led to a beautiful home full of antiques and “owning” the title of “Fashionista”. A famous slogan of Mom’s became “If TJ Maxx doesn’t have it, I don’t need it”!

Decorating Cheryl’s home for all the seasons and holidays brought her much happiness and joy. Fresh and artificial floral arrangements & decor adorned her home. Favorite flowers inside and outside in the gardens were hydrangeas, daisies, red geraniums, calla lily and roses. Dad always kept the exterior landscapes of their homes flourishing with color Spring to Fall. Chery’s job was cutting the blooms when they would fade. Often just “because” or for the multiple symbolic celebrations meaningful to Mom, dad would surprise her with vibrant blooms. In later years when dad ventured to the grocery store, a bouquet of flowers found its way into the cart weekly. These “tiny” loving gestures reminded her…..and now all of us….”YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE”!

Gram, NaNa, “Grandmére” was blessed with 8 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter for 36 years. Each of them enriched her life and brought contagious laughter and smiles to her face. She enjoyed treating them to ice cream, playground fun, visits to many zoos, Lollypop Farm, boating, cheering from the sidelines at sporting events and providing lifelong memories at the family camp on Chaumont Bay. If you asked her what her finest accomplishment was in life, it would be her family. She was proud of all of us. Mom will be most missed by our Dad and Husband, Frank. Daughters, Tammy (Melzer) McConnell of Pulaski NY, Jill (Paul) Wood of Victor NY. Grandchildren Justin McConnell 36 and daughter Alani of Pulaski, Kate McConnell 34 of Rochester, Taylor Wood 28 of Maryland, Caroline Wood 25 of Vermont, Mariah McConnell 23 of Pulaski, Emma Wood 20 of Victor, Hope Wood 20 of Victor and Aaron McConnell 20 of Pulaski. Sister, Ellen Sandner of Benson NY. Granddogs; Sadie, Whiskey, Piper, Lincoln, Natty Day, Boone. Grandcats; Ace, Sully. Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews throughout the country. Many dear and appreciated friends.

The family is planning a Day of Remembrance to honor & celebrate Cheryl’s life in the spring. Details to be shared at a later date.
We would like you to read this poem and remember our Grandma, Mom, and Wife as we do.

♥♥ Remember Me ♥♥
“To the living, I am gone, To the sorrowful, I will never return, To the angry, I was cheated, but
to the happy, I am at peace, and to the faithful, I have never left. I cannot speak, but I can
listen. I cannot be seen, but I can be heard. So, as you stand upon the shore gazing at a
beautiful sea, as you look in awe at a mighty forest and its grand majesty, as you look upon
a flower and admire its simplicity, Remember me. Remember me in your heart; Your
thoughts, your memories, Of the times we loved, the times we cried, the times we fought,
the times we laughed. For if you always think of me, I will never have gone.”
“Though I may no longer walk beside you, I am not truly gone. In the quiet moments of your
life, when you marvel at the beauty of a sunrise or lose yourself in the stillness of nature, I am there.I live in the memories we created—the laughter we shared, the tears we shed, the love we gave so freely.I may not speak, but my presence lingers in your heart, whispering through the things that once brought us joy. Hold onto those memories, for they are where I dwell, and as long as you carry me within you, I am never far away.”

Our family would like to express our innermost heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Anne Yawman; mom’s Geriatric Medicine MD/Memory Care Specialist. Dr. Yawman truly went above and beyond in guiding our family on this challenging journey. We would also like to extend our deep appreciation to Rochester Regional Health Palliative Care for their professional, compassionate end of life care given to our loved one, Cheryl. Thanks to our family and friends, near and far, for your support, love and memories all the years through.

It goes without saying our family’s deep gratitude for our Dad/Poppa Frank for the unwavering devotion, dedication and daily round the clock care he provided for Mom/Gram her entire life and especially these past few years. He emulates what true LOVE is.

Cheryl’s Celebration of Life will be held Saturday April 5th, 2025 at 2:00PM in the Park United Methodist Church, Pulaski NY, where the reception will follow.

Donations in Cheryl’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of the Finger Lakes
