January 7, 2021, at age 77 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Judy is survived by her husband of fifty four years, Richard Buck; her children John (Susan) Buck, Juliana (José) Ortiz, Richard (Kristin) Buck Jr. and Stephen (Cindy) Buck; her ten grandchildren; her sister Jayne (Dan) Cahill; her sisters-in-law Anne Hoag and Miriam Cahill; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, John and Margaret Stevens; brother, Joseph Stevens; and sister, Janet Higgins.
Judy taught at Good Shepherd School in Henrietta and at St. John the Evangelist School on Humboldt Street for many years. She was a peacemaker at heart and led peacemaking workshops as a volunteer at St. Joseph’s Neighborhood Center for many years. Teaching was her calling, and she taught many people to read through the Center’s GED program. In her youth, she earned Girl Scout’s highest rank – the Curved Bar. As an adult, Judy led Brownie and Girl Scout troops in Henrietta.
Judy’s faith in God was strong. She was a member of the Peace of Christ Parish and an Associate of the Sisters of Saint Joseph. She loved her children and grandchildren, reading, flower gardening, bird watching, playing bridge and golfing. She was a lifelong Pittsburgh Pirates fan.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the funeral Mass and burial ceremony will be limited to immediate family. Friends are invited to join the livestream of her funeral Mass on Monday January 11th at 10:00AM (Visit Church Website ). Her family thanks Rochester Presbyterian Home for their loving care of Judy.
