Philip M. Jones

Philip McKean Jones, 84, of Rochester, NY passed away on February 3, 2025. Philip was born in Blossburg, Pennsylvania to the late Herbert Jones and Marian Jones Donaldson on January 7, 1941. He was a 1958 graduate of Canton High School, Canton, PA.

He spent his professional career with Eastman Kodak, Rochester, NY. Philip studied at Rochester Institute of Technology, earning a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and master’s degrees in both mechanical engineering and statistics. At one point during his time at Kodak, he was part of a team that set up a Kodak plant in Germany. He was a veteran of the Air Force reserves specializing in airplane engine mechanics. Philip had a natural skill at fixing just about anything and he used these skills to work on his planes and enjoyed his time in the sky, especially in his Piper Cub. Friends and relatives were also helped getting equipment fixed and projects accomplished with his expertise.

Philip enjoyed spending time in his childhood hometown of Ogdensburg, PA. He was a member of the Ogdensburg Gun Club and enjoyed hunting and spending time with family and friends.

Philip was predeceased by his parents; sister, Harriet Jones Kitzman, Rochester, NY; brother, Harry E. Jones, Ogdensburg, PA; brother-in-law, Vic Bontempo; stepsister, Edith (Roy) Strasburger, Columbia, SC.

He is survived by his sisters, Delores (Les) Kellner, Tonawanda, NY; Mary Bontempo, The Villages, FL; brother, Jack (Hope) Jones, Ansonia, CT; brother-in-law, Dennis Kitzman, Rochester, NY; sister-in-law, Carol Jones, Ogdensburg, PA; stepbrother. Dr Franklin Donaldson, FL; and many nieces and nephews.

Final arrangements are at the convenience of the family.
