Nancy Bowerman of Victor, NY passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025 at the age of 90.
She was predeceased by her husband Brice Bowerman, her parents James and Esther Carney, her sister Noelle Carlson, her mother and father-in-law Ruth and Brice Bowerman, her niece Susan Murphy; son in-law Stanley Rosen; her brother-in-law Alan Bowerman, and her sister-in-law Carol Sweet. She is survived by children, Linda (Fred) Armstrong, Mary Rosen, Cheryl (Tom) Leatherman, Bill Bowerman; her grandchildren, David (Alice) DeMaille, David (Nicole)Wagner, Bryan (Amanda) Wagner, Ian (Julia) Armstrong, Derek (Jessica) Armstrong, Max Rosen, Marley (Ryan) Flaherty; nine great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Nancy was a devoted wife, sister, daughter, mother, and grandmother. Family was her priority. She was always by her husband’s side, especially at the local restaurants they frequented. She rarely missed any concerts, plays, or sporting events of her children and grandchildren. She even went to Massachusetts for her granddaughter’s dance recital. Her warmth and ready smile could be counted on, as well as her willingness to play any kind of card game with friends and family.
Nancy’s childhood was spent in Canandaigua, but after marrying Brice, she lived the rest of her life in Victor. For many years she worked as the cafeteria manager at Victor Schools, and she is remembered fondly for her kindness toward co-workers and students. She also served as a waitress on weekends for much of her adult life, primarily at the Oasis Restaurant and the Farm Restaurant.
Nancy was a faithful and life-long member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Farmington where she was baptized, confirmed, and married. She was an avid bowler and golfer. She bowled on many leagues at Victor’s Raceway Lanes, went to state tournaments, and bowled in Fairport once Raceway Lanes closed. Golf became a passion a little later in life (in her forties), but she enjoyed playing in leagues at Marvin’s Golf Club for several decades. She was a strong competitor in many tournaments and even won a couple with her friend Bev Hotter.
The family would like to extend a huge thank you to the staff on the Pines Avenue at M. M. Ewing Continuing Care Center in Canandaigua- especially to Linda, Julie, Andrew, Mike, Maddie, Kayla, Karen, and Melissa.
Donations honoring Nancy’s memory may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church where a memorial celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, March 15th at 11:00. The church is located at 153 Church Avenue, Farmington, NY 14425.
