Tamara Lane Brister, of Rochester, New York, passed away peacefully at the age of 57 on Sunday, March 16, 2025, with her family by her side, following a long battle with metastatic sarcoma.

Born in 1967 to Betty and Dean Lane, she was raised in Piseco, NY alongside her siblings Jennifer, Rebecca, and Jonathan. She graduated from Syracuse University in 1988 with a B.S. in Speech Communications before moving to Texas and meeting her future husband, Richard Brister, and his son Darren. She showcased her creative talents through her long career in marketing in the Houston and Rochester areas, including most recently as a marketing and communications manager for CooperVision. In 2007, she and her family moved to Pittsford, New York to be closer to her hometown in the Adirondacks, where she cherished sunny days on Piseco Lake, thunderstorms from the porch of the Lane Camp, and rock-hopping on Mill Stream with her husband and daughters. As an avid music lover and diehard Deadhead, she enjoyed countless concerts and strolls along Shakedown Street with her brother and their circle of like-minded free spirits. She could be found on many a Friday night on the back porch of her family home jamming to Dave Matthews Band with her husband and two beloved dogs, Harper and Scout. Come Sunday morning, she would be back on the porch, enjoying coffee, jazz, and crossword puzzles with her family. Tamara was unmatched in her selflessness and courage, and is remembered as a fighter, a fiercely loyal friend, and an endlessly devoted mother.
She is survived by her husband, Rick, and their two loving daughters, Carly and Sydney Brister, along with numerous cherished family members and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, March 27, in the All Seasons Chapel at White Haven Memorial Park (210 Marsh Rd., Pittsford, NY 14534) at 1:30 p.m., followed by a gathering of family and friends at the Deland House on Main in the Village of Fairport (1 E Church St, Fairport, NY 14450). Additionally, a celebration of life will be held in the Adirondacks in the coming months. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sarcoma Foundation of America at DONATION LINK
