Katherine was educated throughout the entire Nazareth education continuum, beginning with Nazareth Elementary through her M.A. in Music Education in 1956. In 1967, Katherine received a certification in Elementary School Guidance from the University of Rochester pursuing her other passion, counseling.

Throughout the 1950’s-60’s, Katherine was a member of the Brook-Lea Country Club and competed in District golf tournaments. She was also an avid, competitive bridge player, competing locally as well as in Canada for many years, eventually becoming a Life Master.

She met her future husband, Robert Slocomb, while playing bridge. Together they shared their love of travel, some adventures (Bob was more of a risk taker), a family cottage on Conesus Lake, and reading.

Anyone who knew her, knew that she was a quiet presence, listening before speaking, but possessed a sharp and desert-like dryness to her humor. Guided by her faith, she was a mother with unlimited love, and a wife with supreme patience, grounded with a positive outlook. She was a friend who would always be considerate of someone else’s well-being. Kay was loyal and kind; and is probably enjoying bridge and cinnamon buns with icing in heaven.

Katherine will be deeply missed by her daughter, Ann, as well as her nieces, nephews and community of friends. She is predeceased by her husband, Robert.

Friends are invited to a Memorial Mass to be held at 10:00 AM, on SATURDAY, September 06, 2025, held at Nazareth University Linehan Chapel, 4245 East Avenue, Rochester, 14618. Interment will be held privately in Massachusetts.
