Robert Berry – Henrietta – Passed away on October 17, 2025 at age 90.  He was born in Niagara Falls, NY in 1935, the son of Dr. George D. Berry and Catherine Brett Berry.  He graduated from Bishop Duffy High School in Niagara Falls in 1952 and went on to LeMoyne College where he received his B.S. degree in June of 1957.  Also that June, he married Shirlee Bergeron of Niagara Falls and the newlyweds moved to Rochester.  Bob later received his M.S. degree from SUNY Buffalo in 1964.

He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, always willing to give selflessly of his time and many talents.  He was a master of home improvements as well as of genealogy research.  Friends and family appreciated his willingness to share his skills and knowledge with patience, kindness and gentle humor.  One of his most cherished memories was the family cross-country trip in 1972 to California and several national parks.  As a grandfather, he enjoyed trips to Disney World with the entire family.  Bob’s Catholic faith and its rituals were very important to him, and he served on the parish council at Church of the Good Shepherd.

He taught at McQuaid Jesuit High School from 1957 to 1964 then became a mathematics professor at Monroe Community College from 1964 to 1995.  He was extremely proud of both educational institutions and their impact on our community.  At MCC, he served as president of the faculty association and earned an award for teaching excellence. He was dedicated to each of his students and greatly enjoyed his relationships with them and his colleagues.

Bob was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Shirlee, in 2023.  He was also predeceased by his siblings Ellen Sigl, Kitty Miklitsch, George Berry, Loretta Berry and Jack Berry.

He is survived by his children Beth (Andrew) Sacco, Susan (Rod) Christian, Brett Berry, John (Tracy) Berry, and his grandchildren David Sacco, Laura, Amy and Matthew Christian, Daniel, Jenna, Sara and Lena Berry, his sister Mary Beth Scalise, and many nieces and nephews.
