Duncan W. Hills of Macedon, N.Y., formerly Webster, N.Y., passed away on December 30, 2025 at age 87.

Predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Marian. Survived by his children, Nanette Hills, and William (Beth) Hills; grandchildren, Max (Laura) Davis and Alison Hills.

Duncan was born and raised in Boston M.A. He graduated from Newton High School and continued his education at Boston University earning a degree in mechanical engineering. One of his favorite jobs was early on, working at MIT Laboratories on a project for NASA. While in New England, Duncan enjoyed time outdoors during all seasons; he water skied in the summer, and hit the slopes in the winter. Duncan soon met the love of his life Marian and the two married in July 1964. Their first child, Nan, arrived in 1965, while living in Connecticut. Within a few years, they moved to Webster, N.Y., where they had their son, Bill. It was here that they made a home for their family.

Once settled in Webster and working at Xerox, Duncan became an avid boater who loved to spend time on the water. He sailed both locally and throughout Canada with friends and family. One of his favorite adventures was his trip from Ft Lauderdale to Rochester. Even though he made his home in upstate New York, he continued to share his love of New England with his family through numerous trips to Cape Cod, and a fondness for all things Boston.

After many years at Xerox, Duncan moved to B&L and ultimately established his own company. These new opportunities allowed him to travel to the far east, with his favorite places being Hong Kong and China. During this time, Duncan was able to take his family and share the adventure with them. When not travelling, Duncan loved spending his time at the Webster Arboretum with his two collies, Lady and Tramp. He also enjoyed a good Western movie, and a Saturday morning donut with his two grandchildren. May Duncan live in our hearts, and his memory stay with us all.

Donations may be made in Duncan’s name to: Cape Cod National Seashore.

Celebration of Life to be held from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Monday, June 29, 2026 at the Webster Arboretum, 1700 Schlegel Road, Webster, NY.

Family and friends are welcome to join us for an afternoon of remembrance, reflection, and celebration.
