Lane, Martha Cogswell, pre-deceased by her parents Barbara (Bentley) Lane and Frederick S. Lane of Hingham, Massachusetts and brother C. Warren Lane of Plymouth, Massachusetts. Martha is survived by her sister Susan Herley (Peter) of San Rafael, California and her guardians Jeffery and Marianne Lane of Henrietta, New York, many cousins, nieces, nephews and brother and sisters-in-law. Special recognition to the loving staff of the OPWDD group home which was her daily family for over 20 years.

“Miss Martha”, as she was affectionately known by many, was born August 13, 1946 in Boston, Massachusetts. Having visited several countries in Europe as well as many parts of the United States she was well-travelled. Her interests were many, including, as a young girl participating in piano lessons, ballet, cooking, reading and maintaining a lifelong love for art for which she had a wonderful talent. For those fortunate to know her over the years she became a “teacher” to them. She fit no psychiatric mold and caused many professionals to throw out the textbook and scratch their heads in wonderment as she defied all their educational understanding on physical and psychological survival.

A memorial service is planned for May 7, 2026 at 4 o’clock at Miller Funeral Home on the corner of Winton and Jefferson Road.
