Richard John Carlascio, 71, passed away peacefully April 26, 2026.
Born in Troy, NY, June 14, 1954, Rick was the 3rd of 4 children born to Louis and Elizabeth Finlan Carlascio. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dale Stahura Carlascio; his son, Matthew (Kimberly) of Bloomfield, NY; his daughter, Nicole (Sean) Wetherington of Tampa, FL; grandchildren MJ and Nora Carlascio, Victoria Wetherington; his mother Elizabeth; and his siblings Louis (Denise), Anthony (Deborah), Daniel (Julie) Carlascio. Loving Uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
Rick lived in the Albany area until 1958 when the family moved to Syracuse. Then in 1969 the family moved again for a better opportunity to Clifton Park where they were closer to family. In 1971, Rick was diagnosed with a congenital brain tumor. His surgery to remove the tumor was successful and in 1973 the family moved again to Rochester where Rick graduated from Pittsford-Mendon High School and attended Monroe Community College. Rick’s fortunes soared when he met and married his love, Dale, in 1980. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life. His family was everything. In 2019, he and his wife achieved a lifelong dream of owning a home in Florida. He traveled back and forth several times a year to be with his daughter and her family. He retired from Rochester Drug Co-op in 2020 looking forward to more travel and enjoying his free time. Rick’s two passions in life were cooking and his lawn. He spent hours at Wegmans looking for the perfect ingredients for a dish he wanted to make. He is famous for his sauce and chili recipes. And he cooked a mean steak on the grill. Everywhere he traveled, he loved to visit grocery stores to find new and different ingredients. Rick’s lawn was nothing short of perfect. He was meticulous about knowing the exact time to fertilize and kill weeds. He would mow the lawn every few days in the summer. It just had to look like a carpet. All his neighbors would pepper him with questions on how to achieve the perfect yard. He was never short on advice.
Richard John Carlascio will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 24, 2026 from 10-12 at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, 3325 Winton Rd South, Rochester, NY. A memorial service will follow in the funeral home chapel.
