Thomas “Tom” Mika, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family, on July 5, 2026, at the age of 68.

Born on May 19, 1958, Tom lived a life defined by hard work and thoughtful dedication to others. From an early age, he worked at his father’s service station in East Rochester where he not only developed his love and passion for cars, but also his work ethic, curiosity, and integrity – skills and traits that served him all his life.

His penchant for service led him to spend over twenty years as a police officer where he held various roles in the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, East Rochester Police Department, and Irondequoit Police Department. Quietly proud of his career in law enforcement, Tom retired in 2004 to dedicate more of his time to his greatest love and joy – his wife and children.

Tom is survived by Laurie, his loving wife of 44 years. They were married on August 22, 1981, and were a constant and inseparable source of love, strength, joy, hope and humor for one another. Their commitment to, and support of, each other over the years is an inspiration to all who know them. He is also survived by his children, Thomas (Jamie Doughty) Mika, Matthew (Leah) Mika and so thoroughly enjoyed being a doting grand-pawrent to their furry friends Benny and Scout.

Predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Mary Mika, Tom is also survived by his siblings RoseMary King, Sharon Ramsay, Robert Mika, Kathy (Joseph) Mika, Timothy (Maritza) Mika, Joseph (Karen) Mika, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services of Victor (301 West Main Street, Victor, NY 14564) on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 1:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom’s memory can be made to the Wilmot Cancer Institute at the University of Rochester, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
