Robert “Bob” Cardot passed away on July 4, 2026 at the age of 87.  He is predeceased by his parents, Homer & Mary Cardot; in-laws Clyde & Janeth Baker; siblings Myrtle Hutchinson, Homer Cardot, Shirley Randtke, John Cardot, Mary Lou Adkins, and Margaret Otto.

Bob (with one “O”) is survived by his loving wife of almost 65 years, Gail Cardot; sister Nancy Nellis; sister-in-law Carol (Tom) Hanley; children Timothy (Sue) Cardot, Amy (Bobby) Jones, John (Connor) Schloop-Cardot, Kimberly (Steve) Swinter, Rick (Carrie) Cardot; grandchildren Katrina Mankin, Andy (Rachel) Mankin, Derek (Mary) Mankin, Colin Mankin, Matthew Cardot, Jeffrey Cardot, Savannah Swinter, Haley Cardot, Olivia Cardot, Chloe Cardot; great grandchildren Aidan Mankin, Alex Mankin, Amelia Mankin, Clara Mankin, Nora Mankin and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was born in February 1939 on Abraham Lincoln’s birthday – he was proud to have Lincoln as his middle name.  Bob was the youngest in a very big family and had five older sisters and two brothers who spoiled him.  He graduated from Monroe High School in 1957 and later from Rochester Institute of Technology with his Associate Degree in Tool Engineering.  He married his high school sweetheart and worked as a machinist and draftsman at several places including Gleasons and then at Xerox.  At Xerox, he became a specialist in configuration management and change control and traveled a lot in the US, Holland, Mexico, England, and Japan.  In 1978, he took a two-year assignment with Fuji Xerox in Yokohama, Japan. It was an incredible experience for the family where they all enjoyed the country and the people.  After returning to the U.S., the family welcomed an exchange student from Japan, Yoshiko, who was a wonderful addition to the family and remains very near and dear to all of them.

Bob had many hobbies, including designing projects for specific people & needs and then building them with his many woodworking tools.  He dreamed of designing and building a home and often helped his children and others with various projects.  He also enjoyed keeping records & developing newsletters on his computer, organizing the Monroe HS Class reunions, Syracuse football and basketball, making soup, and playing cards.  Later in his life, he was concerned about supporting others including his classmates, friends and family and spent time driving for FISH and assisting those who needed help.  His great sense of humor came out in playing pranks, teasing, and telling stories – often about Japan.  He introduced himself to almost everyone as “Bob with one O”.

Calling hours will be 1-3pm August 10, 2026 at Miller Funeral & Cremation Services INC (3325 Winton Rd South, Rochester NY) with a service at 3pm in the chapel at Millers. Following the service will be a gathering at Brighton Park for all to attend.  Come dressed in orange & blue, his favorite colors.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation of time or funds in Bob’s honor to Greater Rochester Habitat for Humanity or your favorite charity.
