On April 9, 1924, Gwendolyn Ruth was born to Charles and Mildred Sheldon Nelson. She was pre-deceased by her loving husband of 57 years, Oliver E. Mabie, and her brother Seymour “Sy” Nelson. She is survived by her son Dana and daughter-in-law Rosemary Paprocki, sister-in-law Jeanne Nelson and her son Don, and many cousins especially Steven (Maria) DeMallie.

Gwen enjoyed working in her “half acre of heaven” yard and spent many years volunteering for the Landmark Society of Western New York, as a docent at the Warner Castle and the Rochester Civic Garden Center, along with many duties in the Episcopal Church through the years.

At her request, there will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 11:15 AM at Christ Church, 141 East Avenue. Graveside service private.
