Kay Murray, 85, passed peacefully after a short battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of her family. A native of Ellsworth, Maine, Kay carried with her a lifelong love for her home state and cherished memories of her childhood there.

After graduating from high school, Kay proudly joined the United States Marine Corps. During her service, she met her future husband, Tom Murray. Following their discharge from the Marine Corps, they married and moved to Rochester, New York, where they made their home and raised their family. Tom predeceased her.

Kay devoted her life to her family and was the beloved mother of Timothy Murray, Tammy (Gene) Snyder, Terri Thomas, and Tracy (David) Scalen. She was also a cherished grandmother to Austin Murray, Becca (Jake) Calabrese, Rachel Scalen, and Matthew Scalen.

Kay enjoyed returning to Maine and sharing stories of her childhood and her years in the Marine Corps. She had a quick wit, a wonderful sense of humor, and a gift for storytelling. Her stories often brought laughter to those around her, creating memories that her family and friends will treasure for years to come.

Kay’s greatest joy was spending time with the people she loved. She will be remembered for her strength, humor, warmth, and the love she gave so generously to those around her.

She is survived by her four children and four grandchildren. Her memory will live on in the stories she shared, the laughter she inspired, and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, September 6, 2026 from 1-3 PM at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services of Victor, 301 West Main Street, Victor, New York 14564.  A Funeral Service will follow calling hours at 3PM at the funeral home.
