Stanley Willard Polmateer
Stanley W. Polmateer, 81, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2026, in Summerville, SC.
Stanley was born on December 26, 1944, in Cohocton, New York, to Willard and Bernice Polmateer. He spent most of his life in Rochester, New York. During the final months of his life, Stanley moved to Summerville, South Carolina, to be closer to his son and daughter-in-law.
Stanley earned his masters degree in mechanical engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology. He started his career at Gleason Works, and ended it at Rush Henrietta school District as Director of Facilities. He was a very active member at Pinnacle Lutheran Church for 50+ years
Stanley enjoyed travel, especially to Niagara-On-The-Lake, Ontario, Maine, and owned a beautiful place in Fort Myers, Florida that they enjoyed for many years. He loved fine dining, and went to several plays over the years. He will be especially remembered for being a very hard worker, a tough boss and father, but with a heart that gave to others, and being a man of the Lord.
Stanley was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen Smith Polmateer; his wife, Nancy Polmateer; and his parents, Willard and Bernice Polmateer.
He is survived by his loving son, Gregory (Beth) Polmateer; his grandson, Micah Prebola-Polmateer; his stepdaughter, Rebecca (Stephen) Sue; his step grandson, David Sue; his brother, Dale (Linda) Polmateer; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Stanley will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. Although the final months of his life were challenging, his family finds peace and comfort in knowing that his earthly struggles have ended and that he is now resting in the loving presence of his Lord and Savior.
Friends will be received on September 26, 2026 at 9:00 am for the viewing at Pinnacle Lutheran Church, 250 Pinnacle Rd., Rochester, NY. The funeral service will follow at 10 AM, after which, a small reception will be held. The internment will be family only.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Pinnacle Lutheran Church in Stanley’s memory.
