Passed away on September 25, 2026, at the age of 84. Predeceased by her husband Kalathur Santhanam. Survived by daughters Rohini, Shalini, sons-in-law Christopher, Manish, and grandsons Nikhil and Akhil.

Her name, Komalavalli, originated from the divine name of Goddess Lakshmi at the sacred Sarangapani Temple in Kumbakonam—a fitting tribute to a spiritual woman who truly embodied love and compassion throughout her 84 years. She was a remarkably beautiful soul who could light up any room with her gentle presence and warmth. She embodied the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, and encouraged the same to her family. She was the first woman in her family to achieve a Master’s degree in Economics and imparted knowledge to her students.

Komalavalli was a woman of exceptional talent and creativity. She was trained in the rich traditions of Carnatic classical music, bringing joy with every note. She was an extraordinary storyteller who would create intricate and witty plots in an instant. Her family will forever remember her as an extraordinary cook whose incredible, comforting Rasam and delicious meals were legendary within the household. A true sport at heart, she brought energy and laughter to games of chess, carrom, and Uno.

Above all, Komalavalli was the cornerstone of her family, showering her daughters, sons-in-law, and especially her Kanna and Kutti Kanna with unconditional love and unwavering support. She was also an immense source of inspiration for her husband. Her gentle nature and enduring spirit leave behind a legacy of music, wisdom, and profound love. A true role model. She will live in our hearts forever.
