Noel R. Michaloski

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness we say goodbye to Noel who passed away on February 23rd from COVID at the age of 83 years. Predeceased by Francis, her husband of 62 years, on January 27th of this year. She is survived by her sons Eric (Annlyn) and Paul (Dawn Revette), and grandchildren Michelle, Jessica Jameson (Gavin), Caleb, Elizabeth and Zachery. Also, she is survived by her three younger sisters, who grew up in Fulton, NY: Christine Leavitt (Mike), Kathy Ammerman (Mark) and Sharon Chernoff (Brad). She is survived by her sister’s-in law Florence, Deanna and Theresa Worden. She is also survived by 12 nieces and nephews.

As a child, Noel had aspirations of becoming a veterinarian, something she did not ultimately pursue, but her love of animals was evident throughout her life. Noel attended the University of Rochester (’59) and majored in the study of Non-Western Civilizations, and later received a graduate degree and pursued a career in teaching. Noel taught for 37 years, nearly all for the younger grades at School 24 on Meigs St. and School 12 on South Ave in Rochester, NY. A beloved teacher, she was passionate about teaching and her students.

She had a deep respect and love for nature that was present in how she lived her life, and a special connection with plants and animals – especially dogs of which she had many over the years. She filled her house with plants that flourished from her skillful care and she was a gifted gardener. She and her husband planted bountiful gardens each year that she tended with the help of her kids and grandkids. An intelligent woman, she always had a book on hand. She could read in the middle of a noisy room with the TV on and not miss a beat. She loved to read and passed that love on to her kids and grandkids. Snowbirds, Noel and Fran spent the winter months in Leesburg, Florida where she formed a great community of friends over 20 years.

Noel was a devoted wife to Fran through 62 years of marriage and a supportive and caring Mother. She was also an amazing Grandmother who spent time cultivating meaningful, supportive, and loving relationships with her five grandkids. She lived a full and beautiful life, surrounded by the love of family until her last breath. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
